Indiana Presbyterian Cursillo (pronounced, “Ker-SEE’-yoh") is a three-day spiritual retreat. It provides opportunities for worship, learning, fellowship, singing, laughter and fun.
Indiana Presbyterian Cursillo derives its name from a program that began in Spain called “Cursillo de Christiandad” (loosely translated: a short course in Christianity). Learn more about Cursillo.
Covenant Communities Announced
Indiana Presbyterian Cursillo Council unveiled Fourth Day Covenant Communities, a newly created form of reunion groups, at a gathering October 12, 2008.
For information about of why Council created Forth Day Covenant Communities, see Doug Anderson's article below.
Council created a manual for the the new Forth Day Covenant Communities, which includes information on what the groups are, how they can be formed and how their meetings may be conducted. Download a copy of the manual in PDF format.
At the Oct. 12 gathering, three people agreed to take copies of the manual and to attempt to convene Fourth Day Covenant Communities. More manuals are available and Council continues to seek additional individuals who will work to convene new Fourth Day Covenant Communities.
If you'd like to convene a Fourth-Day Covenant Community or have questions about this new form of reunion groups, please contact IPC Council Moderator Doug Anderson,(260) 701-3380 or
A New Look at Reunion (Fourth Day) Groups
By Doug Anderson, Moderator Indiana Presbyterian Cursillo Council
For those of you who really know me, you know that words come easy to me. However, when I sat down to write this article, I had a difficult time trying to express exactly what I wanted, or better yet, needed to say. So, I’ll start with the IPC Council and what we have been working on the past year. Setting all issues aside, we felt that we needed to focus on the revitalization of our “community”. This, above all else, has been our focus. The biggest question facing the council was, “How do we achieve this goal?” I think I speak for each member of the council when I say that a considerable amount of prayer has been dedicated to this matter. We considered many option, but in the end, with the guidance of Pastors Hal Thomas and Kevin Boyd, we felt that we needed to become more involved in developing and coordinating our “fourth day” reunion groups.
Without going into too much detail, we have developed an exciting new way to do this and for each Fourth Day reunion group to fulfill the three legs of the tripod. Remember the three legs? They are: study, piety, and mission. We are very excited about what we have developed and want to “unveil” it at our next ultreya gathering (which from now on will simply be called “gatherings”), scheduled for October 12 at Trinity Presbyterian Church from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. At our council meetings we have jokingly referred to this unveiling much like the auto industry excitedly unveils the new models for the coming year and we want to do it in grand fashion!! However, with all joking aside, this is something to be very excited about! Our hope is that the excitement we feel will multiply and spread throughout Indiana Presbyterian Cursillo.
I can’t express how important this next gathering is for our community. I don’t think that I would be exaggerating when I say the life of Indiana Presbyterian Cursillo depends on it. Council strongly believes that reunion groups are key and that our new concept will make them more practical, attractive and effective. Please set some time aside next month and come to this gathering. By coming, I think you’ll sense the excitement that the council feels. As I said earlier, we have spent a considerable amount of time in prayer asking God for guidance and direction. Philosopher Sǿren Kierkegaard said it best when he declared, “Prayer does not change God, but rather it changes him who prays.”
